Why Practice Pilates?

Sure, if you practice Pilates you’re going to get stronger abs, arms and butt muscles. That’s a given.

But, more importantly, you’ll get your circulation going and poor blood circulation is far more common than most people think - and more dangerous to our well-being.

Pilates helps improve foot and ankle mobility and strength, which work together as a "second heart" to help pump the blood from the pull of gravity back up to your heart. This makes your heart and whole circulation system less taxed.

Pilates also benefits your lung capacity, posture, and torso flexibility and strength. When these movements work in concert, it helps your diaphragm push out the "debris" (as Joseph Pilates called it) from your body and allows more nutrient-rich blood to circulate to whichever of your bodily tissues are most stagnant or in a state of “dis-ease”.

When did you start practicing Pilates? What benefits have you experienced from it? Any that surprised you, like improved circulation?
